What Trevor loves most about working at HIL is being a positive example to those that face challenges in life and helping them live the most successful, fulfilling lives that they can.

In 2020, Trevor Ely began his career at Homes for Independent Living (HIL), a MyPath Company in the Waukesha area. He holds degrees in Nursing and Psychology, as well as experience working with individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges for over 10 years. Trevor has a friend who struggles with mental health issues and seeing his friend’s struggles inspired him to want to make a difference in the lives of others who struggle in the same way. This is what lead him to HIL.

Trevor’s background made him a great fit in HIL’s Long-Term Behavioral homes. He quickly went from a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to a House Manager. Trevor says what he loves most about working at HIL is “being a positive example to those that face challenges in life and helping them live the most successful, fulfilling lives that they can.” Trevor enjoyed being a supervisor helping staff reach their full potential and caring for HIL’s clients with 100% respect, protecting their rights.

Trevor did step back into a DSP role to pursue other personal endeavors and remains a dedicated Owner. He believes that making a change in someone’s life is not always the goal, but being a part of a team that believes change is possible and always working toward the best result is a must. He found that at HIL.

Trevor is a dad of four wonderful kids; two boys and two girls, who push him to always try to be the best version of himself. He says, “being common is nothing special, but being different is extra remarkable.”

Working at a MyPath Company

Our employees are why MyPath companies work so well for the people we serve. They’re the reason we’re 100% employee-owned and have nine MyPath companies and 150 locations throughout Wisconsin and Indiana. To help take care of the future of our people, employees who are with us for a year, with over 1000 hours of work, begin to receive company-funded MyPath stock shares. After that first year, continued employment with us means continued growth in the number of company shares you receive.

This culture of ownership goes beyond stock. As an employee owner, you can expect transparency, respect and appreciation. If you are called to help others and be part of something bigger, MyPath can help you explore opportunities throughout its many organizations.
